You need to apply for professional medical attention immediately if pain is intense or abrupt, or if it persists for more than 24-48 hours. Look out for warning signs such as a fever, vomiting, fainting, inability to have a bowel movement, blood in your stool or urine, or pain that gets worse when you are walking.
